Description

This is a memorial about the city-wide lock-down in the spring 2022, and a lament for all the lives lost during that two months, not because of Covid-19 but due to the lock-down. By that time, the Omicron variant of Covid-19 was no longer deadly, with only slight or no symptoms, but the Chinese government insisted its ‘zero policy’. Relatively speaking, my lockdown days were peaceful. My parents and I didn’t get infected. The allocated food was alright: the cabbages were not rotten, nor were potatoes sprouting. We even got coke and chips. But the real torment was never about not going out. It was the frustration, anxiety and anger that refused to go away though the lockdown ended. Some terms could still trigger something like PTSD in me, and that is why I have to make this booklet, even after four years. That is why I have to make this zine.
